ClearCase 7.1 and ClearQuest 7.1 have been released

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: November 26, 2008

Versions 7.1 have been released two days ago. Both products seem to have new major features:

ClearCase:

  • ClearCase MultiSite Global Monitor – monitoring vital server processes
  • New features of CCRC (ClearCase Remote Client)
  • A new Java API suitable for infrastructure support or third-party development

ClearQuest:

  • New command line interface (CLI)
  • New features of ClearQuest designer
  • Out-of-the-box ALM schema

I will try out these versions soon and write my thoughts here.

I also hope that the new Java API does not throw the old CAL for .NET away (IBMers – if you know anything about it, please let me know)

More information is available: ClearCase ClearQuest

28 Nov Update: Michael Manning, ClearCase Product Manager, told me the following: “You can still use all the interfaces we’ve used till now but in the future we’ll only be updating and supporting the CM API.

How many VOBs do you have?

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: November 20, 2008

I’m just doing a little poll for one of my new add-on for ClearCase.I would like to know how many “in production” (real) VOBs do you have in your organization.

I would appreciate your honest answer.

Thanks!

A new approach to code exploration

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: November 19, 2008

I’ve been introduced to a brand new utility which helps Java developers on Eclipse, and I think it may interest you.

nWire is an Eclipse plug-in for software engineers which presents an innovative approach to code exploration. The concept is to create a repository which holds all possible components (like classes, methods) and associations (like extensions, invocations), and provide easy tools for browsing, searching and visualizing that repository. The initial version supports Java static code analysis and I plan to expand it to popular frameworks (like Spring) and other programming languages.  Learn more…

Compare ClearCase UCM baselines on UNIX and Linux

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: November 18, 2008

Since CompBL can compare ClearCase UCM baselines on UNIX and Linux just in case you have Windows-UNIX or Windows-Linux cross-platform environments, I would like to know if you’d like to compare baselines if your environments are pure UNIX or Linux.

I would appreciate your honest answer.

Thanks!

Take New ClearCase Add-ons for a “Test-Drive”!

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: October 31, 2008

Recently, I’ve finished the development and testing of new complementary products for ClearCase and ClearCase UCM.

These products automate some ClearCase processes, suitable for all operating systems (Windows, UNIX and Linux) and can make your life easier :-)

These products are currently up and running on several firms, but I’m still looking for other participants.

Sorry I can’t publish here more details right now, but in a few weeks it will be published to all.

If you’d like to join this beta offering and get some benefits in return, please leave me a message (tamir.gefen (at) gmail (dot) com). Please specify your ClearCase version and your operating system kind.

Thanks!

I’m a Certified Scrum Master!

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: September 21, 2008

Here is a clip of the course that I participated.

Is this assassin a “Scrumist”?

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: September 19, 2008

If you’re watching the 4th season of “Prison break”, you know this bad guy.

On the 3rd episode, he was ordered by the “company” boss (his client), not to call him anymore unless he finishes his mission – killing Scofield and Borrows.

On the 4th episode he calls the boss although he has not finished the mission yet. He consults the boss about new ways to catch those 2 brothers. The boss is listening and approving his suggestion.

mmmm… A Scrumist guy , isn’t it?

A new blog is born

Posted by: Tamir Gefen on: September 15, 2008

I have splitted out my Hebrew blog. Now I have two Hebrew blogs:

The first talks about CM and ALM in Hebrew.

The second talks about music. The text is in Hebrew but the music is universal.

You’re welcome!
